SATHEE is a free exam-preparation initiative; we collect the minimum
information needed to run the service.
As a general rule, the SATHEE website and mobile application do not collect personal information about you when you simply visit or browse them. You can generally browse without revealing personal information, unless you explicitly choose to provide it — for example by creating an account or contacting us.
If you create an account or sign in, we collect the details you enter so that we can authenticate you and save your progress:
This information is used to provide the service to you: to sign you in, to show your own results and progress, and to operate features such as practice tests and reward points. We do not sell it.
We record your visit and log the following information for statistical and operational purposes: your server's IP address; the top-level domain used (for example .gov, .com, .in); device type and operating system; application version; browser type; date and time of access; pages or screens accessed; documents downloaded; and the previous location from which you linked directly to our services. This is used in aggregate to understand usage, diagnose faults, and improve the service.
We do not attempt to identify users or their individual browsing or in-app activity, except where a law enforcement agency exercises a legal warrant to inspect the service provider's logs.
Your email address or contact details are recorded only if you choose to send us a message or report an issue. They are used solely for the purpose for which you provided them. They are not added to a mailing list and are not disclosed to third parties without your consent.
The Android application uses Google Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver push notifications. This requires a device notification token, which is handled by Google as part of that service. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
If you are asked for any other personal information — including any Android permission the app requests — you will be told what it is for at the point of collection. If you believe these principles have not been followed, please tell us using the Contact page.
Account information is kept while your account is active. You may ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time — see Data Deletion for how to request this and what is removed. Server logs are retained only for as long as needed for security, diagnostics, and any period required by applicable law.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure; if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
SATHEE is used by school and college students preparing for competitive examinations. We do not knowingly seek more information from a young user than is needed to provide the service. A parent or guardian may contact us at sathee@iitk.ac.in to ask about, correct, or delete a student's information.
“Personal information” means any information from which your identity is apparent or can reasonably be ascertained. This includes data provided through web forms or mobile application interfaces.
If this policy changes, the revised version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
